NENA Welcomes New Keewaydin Board Member

In April, Mia Simpson of Keewaydin was appointed to fill a recently vacated seat on the Board of Directors.

Mia has lived in Nokomis East for two years with her fiance and her dog Hook. Before moving to our community, she lived in Richfield and served as co-chair of the Richfield Arts Commission, as a member of the Organics Task Force, and as the environmental lead for the Richfield Social Justice Community.

During her time on the Board, Mia hopes, “to meet people and help build my community. I believe NENA is the perfect place to do that. Its culture and initiatives are exemplary, and I am deeply impressed by how developed the organization is. I think I have much to offer its mission and efforts. I am committed to community involvement and am driven to help efforts succeed on behalf of local residents.”

Before running for the Board of Directors, Mia became a member of NENA’s Green Initiatives Committee. She said, “I am a strong environmentalist, so a top goal is to support green initiatives that educate and support our community members around sustainable choices and lifestyles. I want to be a positive force in preserving our beautiful region…and our world.”

In his professional life, Mia works for Medtronic. She wants Nokomis East to remain safe,
accessible and affordable to all residents. To that end, I want to play my part by participating in local efforts that value equity, connection, and openness.

We are glad that Mia has joined the NENA team!
